Enjoy Lake Activities In Moreno Valley
It doesn’t feel like summer unless you’re at the lake. In the heart of Angel Fire lies a beautiful 28-acre spring-fed lake. Monte Verde Lake becomes a hot spot in the summer for fishing and recreational activities. You also may want to try your skill at white water rafting on one of the many rivers nearby.

Fish For Trout & Salmon
Calming and relaxing, fishing from the shores of the spring-fed Monte Verde Lake in Angel Fire is something anyone can do. Stocked with rainbow trout regularly, you have a fair chance of getting a catch. Rods and bait are available for rent and purchase.
Fly Fishing is another thing that brings people to the area. Several streams are nearby and in the Carson National Forest where you can fish for brown trout and salmon. Aquatic Activities & Rentals In Angel Fire
Explore the crystal-clear waters of Monte Verde Lake. This no-wake lake in the heart of Moreno Valley offers breathtaking views of surrounding sun-lit mountains. Kids love the self-propelled pedal boats. For $35 you can rent pedal boards for kids as young as 4 years old. They must be able to swim and, of course, wear a life jacket (provided).
You can navigate the glistening shores of Monte Verde Lake on a kayak. Rentals for 1 and 2 people are available for those 12 years of age and up. Or, to get more adventurous, test your balance on a stand-up paddleboard. There is no swimming at the lake so if you do fall off, you’ll be asked to get right back on your board.
Canoes and fishing boats are also available to rent. You can fish from these if you’re desiring a top fishing spot in the center depths of the lake. The Country Club does have an indoor heated swimming pool, available to the public for a fee if swimming is something you want to do on your mountain vacation.

Hike The Monte Verde Lake Trail
This easy 1-mile trail around the lake is a beautiful and peaceful way to explore the lake area. This trail is on relatively flat terrain and will take you through scenic meadows featuring vividly colored wildflowers. You’ll get close to the shore at times and may sight beaver, geese and other aquatic mountain animals. This trail is great for families with small children. It can be navigated on foot, stroller, horseback or mountain bike.

For Breathtaking Mountain Views, Enjoy Picnics At The Lake
There is plenty of shade, benches and picnic tables around the shores of the lake. With exquisite views of Moreno Valley and the surrounding Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the natural beauty will take your breath away.

Rapidly moving mountain streams can be found closely surrounding Angel Fire. If a more adventurous activity beacons you, enjoy white water rafting. Several outfitters offer guided tours through the Carson National Forest or even through the majestic scenery and diverse terrain of the Rio Grande.
